Meridians can empower your bodywork and improve clinical results! What if you could skip the non-essentials, simplify the philosophy, and focus on material you will be able to use in your office on Monday morning? IF that sounds appealing, join us! This two-day seminar will take the mystery out of merdians. We focus on applying acupuncture concepts to massage therapy assessment and treatment. You will become familiar with some acupuncture points but the real emphasis is on the meridian itself. You will learn to trace fourteen meridians from memory and discuss the associated muscles, organs, emotions and pathologies.

One the second day, you will learn about the categories of acupressure points including entry and exit points, from mu and back shu points, and command points. Working with these points will deepen your understanding and comfort level with the meridian pathways.

Expect to become comfortable locating acupressure points as well as using combinations of points to treat meridians, organs and systems. We wil use intention as well as physical stimulation in this approach. Our own personal meridian systems will be balanced several times throughout the weekend and we will finish by practicing assessment and treatment in triads.

Wear comfortable clothes, bring one set of sheets and your blanket for layering. You may also want to bring materials to take notes.

Understanding & Transforming Chronic Pain (C904)

$400

with Arnold Askew, LMT, GCFP

Calendar Oct 24, 2026 at 9 am

NCBTMB # 1000676                 CE Credits: 14 Hours

Cost: $400 ($445 if registering within 7 days of class)

MUST HAVE 10 REGISTERED FOR THE CLASS TO BE HELD

Would you like your practice to be more “medical” based? Would you like your practice to help transform people’s lives? Would you like your practice to be easier on your body?

Learn the latest neuroscience about chronic pain and the conclusive evidence about which therapies prove most effective. Find how this information can clarify the difference in the “types” of chronic pain that people suffer from. Understanding this difference will determine how successful you are in assisting your clients in their recovery. With this new information we will build a practical model for identifying and treating the complexities of chronic pain. First, we’ll look at how to rewire the neuro-circuitry that causes chronic pain and then we’ll consider the role somatic education plays in changing inefficient patterns of dysfunction. Therapeutically we’ll use awareness-based touch and movement to awaken proprioceptive centers and stimulate new neurological activity.

Emphasis in this class will be placed on the kinetic chain of the spine, ribs, and extremities. We will explore how to palpate and assess the relative health of these complex relationships. We will also look at how the curves and spirals of the spine affect each other and how areas of dysfunction appear and feel. Strategies will be explored to assist easier, less encumbered movement throughout the length of the skeleton. A variety of injuries, pathologies and conditions will also be discussed. Lastly, we will look at how to bring our clients into a healthier relationship with their own healing. Our goal will be to help them become more autonomous and secure in living with whatever conditions may be a part of their lives. Please wear clothing that doesn’t restrict movement AS THIS IS ALL CLOTHED BODYWORK.

This class consist of two hours of lecture, three 40-min. movement explorations that dovetail with the hands-on work and the rest of the time implementing things learned during the class.

Wear comfortable clothes, bring one set of sheets and your blanket for layering. You may also want to bring materials to take notes.

Call Teresa Greene at 615-370-9794 if you have any questions.

Payment plan available: $150 deposit plus 8 payments of $31.25, paid every four weeks.
