Self Care for Therapists(C214)

Cost: $250 ($295.00 if registering within 7 of class)

This eight hour class gives therapist time to focus on their own self-care and bodywork needs and how that can improve their well-being and practice. This class is designed to help therapists learn how to connect with their own self- care needs and how to practice self-care before, during and after sessions.

Topics to be covered include:

  • The impact of being a therapist and ways to care for oneself.
  • Methods of energy management.
  • Physical care of the body
  • Emotional care
  • Mental and spiritual care
  • Importance of receiving bodywork.
  • Sharing of benefit of day and how to carry forward…

This class will include lecture, self –reflection, sharing and exchanging bodywork. Participants need to be prepared to receive and give bodywork.

PLEASE BRING TO CLASS:  SET OF SHEETS, FACE CRADLE COVER, BLANKET, YOUR FAVORITE LUBRICATION AND A RELAXED SPIRIT.

Class Agenda:

  • Introduction and Welcome
  • Sharing about ways impacted by being a bodyworker
  • Ranking self on skill level of meeting one’s own needs
  • Maybe therapists sharing the areas they are strongest in and how they meet that need.
  • Energy work exchange --- holding area most in need of attention
  • Exchange full body work

Full Course

The Eight Limbs of Yoga(C420)

This course is a combination of lecture and yoga movements to encourage self-care for massage therapists. Eight steps of basic yoga will be discussed:

  1. Yama – Universal morality
  2. Niyama – Personal observances
  3. Asanas – Body postures
  4. Pranayama – Breathing exercises and control of prana
  5. Pratyahara – Control of the senses
  6. Dharana – Concentration and cultivating inner perceptual awareness
  7. Dhyana – Devotion, Meditation on the Divine
  8. Samadhi – Union with the Divine

What To Bring:  Yoga Mat, a blanket, yoga blocks and strap,Hand or Bath Towel, Bottled Water.  Please wear yoga style clothes that you are comfortable moving freely in.
