Trigger-Swe was designed by Nick Phillips, LMT by integrating his passion for Neuromuscular Therapy and Swedish Massage into sessions to benefit his clientelle at Maury Regional Hospital. This is a hands-on learning experience; you will practice the techniques demonstrated, and you will be given detailed notes of the procedures to take with you as a reference for future use. Students in this class must be willing to give and receive unclothed bodywork.
What to Bring: A set of sheets, blanket, face cradle cover, hand towel and lubrication. All massage tables are provided. A lunch break will be taken midday. You may bring your lunch, or eat at one of the many restaurants located nearby.

Calcium Deposits & Power Point Deep Tissue (C885)

This course utilizes lecture, demonstrations and hands-on practice focusing on the recognition, causes and effects calcium deposits have on the musculoskeletal system. Students will be presented with deep tissue massage therapy techniques to perform on clients who present with pain and restricted ROM caused by calcium deposits. Students will demonstrate competency in the techniques presented in the course.
Course Objectives:
- Define, identify and discuss causes of stress
- Identify and list the effects of stress on musculoskeletal system
- Describe the relationship between stress, cortisol and high levels of calcium and their effects on musculoskeletal system
- Define calcific tendonitis
- Describe and discuss how size of calcium deposits can affect nerves and ROM
- Demonstrate "static pressure" and "power point" deep tissue technique
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics in treatment of calcium deposits
- List contraindications of deep tissue massage
- Locate calcium deposits and demonstrate "static pressure" technique to dissolve it; "power point" deep tissue technique to muscles groups in back and neck muscles with client in prone and supine positions
- Evaluate ROM of both arms to demonstrate effectiveness and if any additional treatment is required
- Locate and demonstrate learned techniques to other areas of the body where calcium deposits may occur - base of palm or bottom of feet...
- Describe recommended post treatment activities for client
Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course the student will be able to provide deep tissue massage to clients to relieve symptoms of calcium deposits and provide post treatment instructions.
What to Bring: Linens to include face cradle cover, 1 hand towel, and your own lubrication. Massage Tables are provided.

CE Credits: 42 Hours - this is a 10-week, full body NMT class that meets once a week on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm - 10:35 pm.
Practicum and Test are required for this course.

This course instructs the student in the modality of neuromuscular therapy as an effective deep tissue technique to address chronic pain and muscular dysfunction in clients by locating and releasing myofascial trigger points.
Course Objectives:
- Demonstrate proficiency in palpation skills to locate trigger points in muscles
- Demonstate proficiency in myofascial release technique, fascial release, post-isometric muscle release
- Demonstrate an understanding of structural assessment and intake information of the client for effective treatment
- Study physiological laws that affect musculoskeletal problems
- Demonstrate an understanding of working with intent and within the client's discomfort threshold
