Advanced Lymphatic Technique for Heart & Lungs(C123)

Prerequisites: The 10-week Lymphatic Drainage course in 2017 or later and C321 Fascia Techniques (or other Fascia class) and Craniosacral Therapy E502 at Cumberland or Upledger Course.

This is a part of the Advanced Abdominal Lymphatics series presented by Denise Gleason, LMT, CLT.  This class will discuss the overall function of the heart and lung including the seasonal cycle and 24-cycle of the two organs.   The class will also provide you with tools to assess from client’s problem description and actions, if heart or lung need to be addressed during their session by learning to recognize emotional and physical components. Additionally, the class will touch on the visceral connections of the heart and lung and how that can affect other parts of the body.  Lastly, you will be taught a Lymphatic Drainage Technique routine that will help to move the lymphatics of both the heart and lung.

This class is a combination of lecture and hands-on bodywork.

What to Bring:  Sheets, Face Cradle Cover, Blanket, Lubrication and Essential Oils for your usage.  Some lecture materials will be provided, bring a pen or pencil to take notes.  Massage tables are provided.

A lunch break will be taken midday.  You may bring your lunch, or eat at one of the many restaurants located nearby.

Lymphatic Drainage Technique(T305)

CE Credits: 42 Hours - this is a full body CMT class that will meet over 3 weekends: July 12-13, August 9-10 and September 13-14, 2025.  You must attend all 6 days to complete the class.  THIS CLASS HAS A LIMIT of 14 Students; register early to save your spot!

Cost: $1040 ($1085 if registering within 14 days of class)
Practicum and Test required for course credit.

This class will teach a full-body lymphatic sequence, with particular emphasis on developing the practitioner’s skill in feeling excess fluid. Lymphatic massage is in demand for working with breast cancer survivors who have had lymph nodes removed as part of their treatment, and is also sought by individuals who retain excess fluid in general.

Course Materials Include:

  • The Anatomy and Physiology of the Lymphatic System, and a review of Lymphatic diseases.
  • Essential oils for use in Lymphatic Drainage.
  • Contraindications for Lymphatic Drainage.
  • The use of Diaphragm breathing to assist in moving fluid.
  • Lymphatic techniques for the subclavian (prone & supine), junction, axillary, elbow (prone & supine), abdominal, inguinal triangle, popliteal and ankle.

What to Bring:  One hand towel to elevate client's head, set of sheets/blanket/face cradle cover for each day of class for your personal use, your favorite lubrication, lymphatic essential oils(discussed at first class) and materials to take notes. Massage tables are provided.

Denise Gleason, LMT, CLT has been a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Tennessee since 1998, graduating from Cumberland Institute of Holistic Therapies in Brentwood, TN. In 2006, she obtained her Lymphedema Therapist Certification from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies.  Additionally, she has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the College of Engineering at the University of Kentucky. 

Denise has had a very active, private practice since 1998 and has had the opportunity to work with local, national, and international clientele. Her concentration is on issues with the immune system, including but not limited to, cancer, post cancer, lymphedema, lipedema, auto-immune diseases, and surgical recovery. She champions a holistic approach utilizing Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial, Craniosacral, and Visceral techniques.

In addition to having her own private practice, Denise has also enjoyed the role of educator since2003.  She developed a revolutionary Lymphatic Drainage Technique program that provides a broad educational spectrum and has developed a certification option for three levels: practitioner, advanced practitioner, and master practitioner. Her training program provides an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, an understanding of diseases that stem from a compromised lymphatic system, and a strong focus on how to create customized plans for each client health situation.   The motto for her training is  ‘Where Science Meets The Art of Intuition’.  

To continue providing top tier, up to date support for her clients and students, Denise routinely completes continuous education in Lymphatic by attending training from other experts in the field, attending Lymphatic seminars in the US and internationally, and keeping up with current lymphatic research. This class is designed to teach advanced lymphatic techniques to move lymph from the neck, head and brain.

Prerequisites: The 10-week Lymphatic Drainage course in 2017 or later or C114 – Lymphatic for Head, Neck & Brain in 2016/2017 class at Cumberland. In addition to Cumberland classes above, each therapist should also have taken a minimum of one of the following:

  • C321 – Fascial Freedom Techniques taught at Cumberland
  • Myofascial Release 1 by John Barnes
  • T502 – Craniosacral Therapy 10-week class taught at Cumberland
  • Upledger’s CS1 Certification

The review is minimal, so be sure that you have been actively using the lymphatic head/neck/brain sequence. Lymphatic Drainage is the basis for this class and will be demonstrating how to integrate with other modalities.

What to Bring: 1 set of sheets, face cradle cover, blanket/throw, 1 hand towel, lymphatic lubrication/essential oils.  Wear comfortable clothes and bring materials to take notes. Massage tables are provided.

A lunch break will be taken midday. You may bring your lunch, or eat at one of the many restaurants located nearby.

The Advanced Kidney, Urinary Bladder and Adrenal class is a part of the Advanced Abdominal Lymphatics series presented by Denise Gleason, LMT, CLT.  This class will discuss the overall function of the kidney, urinary bladder and adrenal, including the seasonal cycle and 24-cycle of the two organs.   The class will also provide you with tools to assess from client’s problem description and actions, if kidney, urinary bladder and adrenal need to be addressed during their session by learning to recognize emotional and physical components. Additionally, the class will touch on the visceral connections of those organs and how that can affect other parts of the body.  Lastly, you will be taught a Lymphatic Drainage Technique routine that will help to move the lymphatics of those organs.  There are prerequisites for all of the classes in the abdominal series.     

This class is a combination of lecture and hands-on bodywork.

Breast Care Using Lymphatic Drainage Massage(C111)

Prerequisite: E305 Lymphatic Drainage Class -Full body.

This class will be a prerequisite for a future class, “Lymphatic Drainage for Compromised Breasts”.

Students will give and receive the work in the classroom; therefore, this class will be limited to female therapists.

This class will provide attendees with knowledge of the anatomy the lymphatic system pertaining to the breast area, skills in lymphatic drainage technique to palpate lymphatic fluid and stimulate drainage in the normal, healthy breast. They will also learn boundaries for legal and appropriate inclusion of breast massage in their practice, an overview of indications and contraindications for lymphatic drainage massage, and knowledge of how to instruct clients on healthy breast care in everyday life. Breast tissue is often ignored in massage in the United States, but it is a useful technique to assist clients in flushing their breast tissue of toxic cells which may be the result of exposure to many household or cosmetic products.

What to Bring:  A set of sheets/face cradle cover/two pillow cases for draping/blanket and hand/bath towel for each day of class.  Personal lubrication/essential oils for your usage.  Massage Tables are provided.

Advanced Breast Care Using Lymphatic Drainage Technique(C118)

Prerequisite: C111 Breast Care using Lymphatic Drainage Technique.

Students will give and receive the work in the classroom; therefore, this class will be limited to female therapists.

This class will provide each student the skills to use lymphatic drainage on breast tissue that has been modified. Lymphatic Drainage helps keep their breast tissue flushed of toxic cells.  This class will provide the LDT in a manner that protects the integrity of the breast modification.  We will discuss and learn about topics that you can use to educate your client and give them an awareness of breast health in their everyday activities.

What to Bring:  A set of sheets/face cradle cover/two pillow cases for draping/blanket and hand/bath towel for each day of class.  Personal lubrication/essential oils for your usage.  Massage Tables are provided.

A lunch break will be taken midday. You may bring your lunch, or eat at one of the many restaurants located nearby.
