with Mindy Oldham

$330

CE Credits: 13 Hours

Cost: $330 ($375.00 if registering within 7 of class)

This class will review anatomy/physiology of the integumentary system, focus on causes and types of scars, address holistic aspect of scar tissue in therapeutic bodywork and provide introductory information regarding techniques and communication with clients who want scar tissue work.  This two-day class focuses on understanding and working scar tissue. Reviewing the anatomy/physiology of scars, types of scars, manual treatment options and client education will prepare therapists to work in a safe, holistic, and therapeutic manner to help heal scar tissue and prevent or reduce long term side effects. Therapists use a variety of techniques with scar care and this class will reference them. However, therapists need to independently study modalities such as manual lymphatic drainage, craniosacral, neuromuscular/trigger point, acupressure, deep myofascial release, and intensive stretching to use them safely and effectively. If you have basic training in any of the above techniques, you will be able to utilize the content of this course.

This class will include lecture and demonstration. Participants need to be prepared to give and receive unclothed bodywork on any scar tissue they may have. The possibility exists for you to bring a client who has scar tissue for you to work on Day Two.
