Do you want to improve your communication skills to gather information from your clients? Be able to pinpoint key issues for your clients and make a treatment plan to address those issues?

In this class we will cover client history forms, how to gain specific information from your clients regarding the things they are feeling in their body, and session and goal setting for your clients.

By using the blend of your client’s history, your knowledge, the techniques you know and their goal for the session and from massage in general you will learn to develop a treatment plan. Every client is unique and can be different from session to session. We will review quick intakes and more extensive intake skills and how to decide which to use.

Mindy Oldham, RN, LMT will help you begin to identify how to assess your skills and your client’s needs to determine how your massage can be beneficial, therapeutic, and relaxing.

Topics covered include:

• Active listening techniques and skills
• Review of therapeutic techniques and their main uses
• Overview of condensed and extended intake history
• Clarification techniques to determine client's key objectives
• Verbal techniques to establish reasonable session outcomes with client
• Identification of treatment planning for a series of sessions.

This class will primarily be lecture with discussion and participation. There will be no direct work in this class.
