Indian Head Massage, known as “Champi,” has been practiced for many centuries as part of the family health care. Indian mothers would massage their babies’ hair, head, neck and shoulders to stimulate growth and relaxation. This is primarily a hands-on class and incorporates three principle strokes and techniques, which include a form of acupressure (Sattva, Raja, Tamas), learn to apply oils and learn a revitalizing and relaxing treatment.

Purpose of Workshop

  • Explanation of the Ayurvedic understanding of the life force Prana, meditation and the philosophy behind Ayurvedic massage
  • How to evaluate, analyze and treat the client as an individual
  • The three different types of massage suited for each individual
  • An explanation of functions of and locations of the marmas (pressure points)
  • Location and explanation of the nadi (meridian system)
  • Discussion of the choice of appropriate essential oils, herbs and their energetic qualities for each individual client
  • How to apply the three principle strokes: satvic, rajastic and tamassic
  • How to perform Chakra balancing.

What to Bring:  A set of sheets, face cradle cover, personal blanket, your favorite lubrication and a hand towel.  Wear comfortable clothes and bring materials to take notes. Essential oils are provided by the instructor and these are usually used: Rosemary, Sandalwood, Lavender, Peppermint, Frankincense, Patchouli and blends.  Wolfgang asked you to come with an open mind. Massage tables are provided.

A lunch break will be taken midday. You may bring your lunch, or eat at one of the many restaurants located nearby.

Instructor: Wolfgang Luckmann LMT, LAP, has been an instructor of Massage Therapy & Bodywork in Florida since 1997. Since 1998 he has also practiced in Jacksonville, Florida as an Acupuncture Physician, a homeopath and a holistic health consultant. His work integrates Eastern and Western techniques from Acupuncture and meridian theory, Lomi Lomi, Ayurveda Medicine, Tui Na, Homeopathy, Neuromuscular Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy and Neuromuscular Therapy, among others to address the health and vitality of the whole body through touch therapies.

Payment plan available: $80 deposit plus 2 payments of $56.66, paid weekly. Final payment of $56.68.
